Exhaust & Driveline

Exhaust and driveline upgrades

Power has to get in, out and down. Alongside our engine and boost work we fit full exhaust systems, headers and stall converters that let the combination breathe and launch.

Full exhaust systems

Most of our big builds run a full Hurricane exhaust system, and we also fit ceramic-coated headers and custom exhausts. A VF Clubsport with a boosted pulley, our cam package and ceramic-coated headers made 600+ rwhp.

For four-wheel drives we have fitted Tickford exhausts, including a 3 inch twin exhaust upgrade on a Ford Ranger Raptor.

Converters and transmissions

An upgraded stall converter lets a cammed or boosted car get into its power band from a standing start. We spec the stall to suit your cam and how you drive, and we have built cars with heavy-duty transmissions such as the 4L80E behind a blown LSX 427.

Exhaust & Driveline FAQs

Which exhaust does Sam's Performance fit to supercharged HSVs?

Most of Sam's Performance's boosted HSV and Commodore builds run a full Hurricane exhaust system, often paired with Harrop pulleys and airbox and the workshop's own cam package. Builds in this spec have made 640 to 680+ rwhp.

Do I need a stall converter with a cam upgrade?

For automatic cars with a bigger camshaft, an upgraded stall converter usually improves drivability and launch by letting the engine reach its power band sooner. Sam's Performance specifies the stall to suit the cam and how the car is driven.
